The main coach operator based on Romney Marsh is Smiths Continental travel with a fine fleet of Leyland Leopards, Tigers and two Olympians for school services and Scania/Iveco coaches for Private Hire. Marshopper operate double deck buses from Brookland on the 812 from Rye to Tenterden. Other operators based on the Marsh include Talisman with their smart midicoaches.
Stagecoach pass through on the 12 and 711 services with vehicles based at Folkestone (12) and Dover and Hastings (711). Thursdays only 813 from Ashford via the Marsh is operated by Stagecoach from Folkestone using a Solo. Solo's are also used on the first 12 from New Romney to Folkestone and the evening service, otherwise the entire service is elderly olympians and the odd single decker except some early morning journeys now operated by 56 reg deckers from the 16/17 Folkestone to Canterbury allocation.
Kent Coach Tours run across the Marsh on the 11/11a/11b from Ashford to New Romney and Lydd with their smart blue vario midibuses. Various Tesco contracts operate including Buzzlines to Folkestone and Jempsons superstore at Peasmarsh near Rye operates a number of £1 flat fare services to their store using their smart new SLF Dart.
The S1 school service to Brockhill from Greatstone is normally operated by a Buzzlines Coach that also does a contract for Portex in Hythe and Crosskeys have a number of school services along the coast using modern high capacity coaches. |

Smiths Continental Travel upgraded their frontline Private Hire fleet and the latest additions are two 6 wheel Scania Van Hools and a Toyota Optimo 21 seat minicoach in 2006.
All three coaches were re-registered by Smiths, P81KHD is now K555BUS, P704 is now K500BUS and Toyota M10KFC is now M938XHE.
In Feb 2007 K500BUS and K555BUS were sold to Buzzlines and the Twister was also sold along with VJI 9595 an WJI 3782.
The company has since been sold to one of its employees and is now known as C D Smith & Son (Coaches) Ltd trading as Smiths of Romney Marsh. The current fleet can be seen in the Smiths of Romney Marsh collection.

Smith's of Brenzett was a long established, well respected and friendly coach operator based in Old Romney, Romney Marsh. Older coaches were used on school & other contract services, route 553, and some hires. Modern Van Hool coaches operated most private hires and could frequently be seen abroad and around the UK. In Feb 2007 two of the coaches passed to Buzzlines and the company was sold to one of its employees in the Summer of 2007 and rebranded Smiths of Romney Marsh. They now only have a National license so no longer do any continental work.

MARSHopper is a local bus company based in New Romney that used to provide a direct link from Dymchurch, St Mary's Bay and New Romney via Ivychurch, Ham Street and Kingsnorth to Ashford. This new service started on May 24 2004 and ran every 2 hours on Monday to Fridays excluding Bank Holidays. This service was withdrawn in January 2005
School bus 811 ran schooldays only from Newchurch via Lydd, New Romney, Dymchurch and Hythe to schools in the Folkestone area. It was an attempt to compete with Brians Coaches, now sold to Crosskeys, but never attracted any patronage.
